Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. How long will it take to fix my credit?
We wish we could snap our fingers and make it happen overnight, but credit repair takes time and patience. Most of our clients start to see progress within 45 to 90 days. The exact time depends on your credit history, the number of negative items we’re working on, how quickly creditors respond, and how involved you are in the process.
2. Will you remove every negative item from my credit report?
Not all negative items can be removed. We focus on challenging anything that’s inaccurate, outdated, or can’t be verified. If something is reporting correctly, it may stay. We will also guide you on how to build strong, positive credit to help your scores recover faster.
3. If you remove negative items, will my score automatically go up?
Not always. Removing harmful items can help, but your credit score is also shaped by other things like your credit card balances, payment history, and how long you’ve had credit. That’s why we give you credit-building steps to do alongside the dispute process so your score has the best chance to grow.
4. How do I request a refund if I qualify?
If you believe you’re eligible for a refund, simply email us at support@nextstepcreditpros.com within 15 days after your service period ends. Include your name and a quick explanation. We’ll review your account and get back to you with a decision within 10 business days.
5. Will credit repair hurt my credit score?
No. The dispute process itself won’t hurt your score. Just keep in mind, if you apply for a lot of new credit or miss payments during the program, that could lower your score. We’ll guide you so you know exactly what to avoid.
6. Can I repair my own credit?
Absolutely. You have the right to dispute errors yourself at no cost by contacting the credit bureaus. Many people choose to work with us because we save them time, handle the back-and-forth, and provide a proven plan to both repair and rebuild their credit.
7. Do I really need to build new credit while I’m fixing my credit?
Yes, 100%. Building positive credit is just as important as removing the bad stuff. That’s why we require clients to start a credit builder account within the first 60 days. It’s one of the best ways to boost your scores while we work on the negative items.
